An anaesthesiologist for more than 20yrs, with a passion towards the enhancing the peri operative journey of a high risk surgical patient, Dr. Smita did her M.D. in Anaesthesia at the prestigious St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, India. Her journey as an anaesthesiologist brought her to the Cayman Islands, where she served as a Consultant Anaesthesiologist for 8 years at Health City Cayman Islands, a major tertiary referral centre, not just for the Cayman Islands, but also for the wider Caribbean. The immense advantage in surgical outcomes given by regional anaesthesia urged her to delve further into into advanced pain management, which she pursued by doing a Fellowship in Advanced Pain Management at the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, a premier cancer centre, for UK and Europe.

After having worked at the Anthony Eden Hospital and the Faith Hospital for the past 18 months, she brings with her understanding of the local health landscape and regulations with regards to the practice of pain medicine, as she begins her practice at Total Health Ltd.
